From settings you can tweak the program a lot.
Estonian problem is that first children have their own computer and second they are administrators.
And when parent wants to apply some blocking software it will downgrade trust in family. And let to child to "restrict" him/herself then why they want to shoot themselves.. g. do that?
Problems using these kind of software at schools is the filtering listings - in Estonia we need Russian, Finnish, Estonian, English etc filters. and then some of us like to use also "numbers" in words or other.
Blocking a web backfires as people try to search other sites or other ways to hack the system. Or sometimes the useful sites are blocked when you need them (eg. sexual education teacher is in trouble). Site blocking depends of someone to do the white or blacklists. As lot of places still try s to regulate use of internet, then a lot of people advise how to go pass it also.
In schools when you restrict more, then children bring their own divide and there you don’t block nothing. At home usually when parents use blocking inside the computer, the children start using more mobile phones or gaming consoles what interact also with internet or just hang out somewhere else.
Myself I believe in reasoning and talking to people and setting the regulations and agreements what we both can honour. At the same time to take adults options to use internet like what has happen in TTÜ in some department is outrageous.
So for me any blocking/filtering/restricting tool is a harassment. To use it to others it takes a lot of valuable time, and the result may be OK, but not always. When someone uses it to restrict me then I just put up a tunnel to other system and do things anyway... or something..
