science business


I am not happy that science is a business. Conferences fees are high, some magazines sell you a right to publish. So if you have the funds, then you will be well known and good scientist even when you don’t have anything to add or say.

I have already blogged of the possibilities where the Estonian universities fell – right to publish did not include need for doing work, just have the money. Also people are warning young starters about rubbish conferences where nobody reads your paper.
