Wesnoth forum main idea is for developers, designers, stradegiest and others to discuss game developments issues. People are classefied into a different groups using „best competence“ attribution, so everybody will see what your main focus and know-how is. It helps people to take seriously someone when there is a discussion about coding when coder answers and people might take not so serious when average passing by or beginner starts convincing others to some idea.
Forum is devided to several groups of topic: gegenral to real game developing issues, seperated usually also where some people might hang around designers to designers and so on. There is also spilt if the topic on oficcial, unoficcial, open or closed. It will help the forum managers to selt different rules to the discussions as one part is more regulated and other is more flexible with topics, posts and how quickly people response.
As I see there is also general topic where people can introduce (users forum) their selves or giving out background information like age etc, but usually the forum is problem and „game based“. This ecosystem is based on the shared goal. It is also problematic when the people might somehow drift apart of the idea and game development stops and there will be no other game what iterests them all, then the system and forum has some risks, but for now it is not the case.
Most different topics are in area Technical support and ideas, se I see there are lots of interested people who like to brainstorm and develop the idea and get feedback in different ideas. But real interest is arised (as there is lot of posts) users, art and scenario. It might mean, that very creative people can use the game because it has lot of customization options, ag it is not hard to develop a game even fr the beginner. The forum is also downloadable with RSS feed what helps people to get quick information about their interest.
As my interst is also art related, then I see there are lot of people who have discussing the ideas and sharing themes, pics etc but sometimes when you want quic feedback then it takes too long. To reduce mess there are also several rules for the beginners.
Also when I looked at the stradegies and ideas feedback and discussions corner then I was happily suprised, that it was very well organized and structured.
Finding new ideas for development to our story might be useful, but as in our situation we are waiting a bit to get the system running, and we dont have nothing to show at this moment. But we have discussed the scenarios, design with others so we are optimistic. The scenario can be developed more wicked or sarcastik way but our goal is more to show real events from the history not make fun of others.
